Month One!

Wow! I have been at training camp for a month now, how crazy is that?! I’ve gotten close with my squadmates and have learned so much about God. What I can reflect on the most is how much closer my relationship with the Lord has become. I have felt so alive these past few weeks even though I’ve been living on 6-7 hours of sleep and beans with almost every meal. I strive to live for the Lord for the first time in my life and it has completely changed my perspective. I have always been one to live for the world. To look a certain way and do certain things. To constantly try to please people. The influence of the world had a hold on me. I have had a very worldly view my whole life. But now, I feel like I can leave that personality behind and live for God. It feels like taking off a pair of sunglasses. The sunglasses represent how I want to see the world and God. My idols and worldly possessions I hold too close in my heart blocking the full view. It’s like taking the sunglasses off to see God in his full brightness and who he really can be and is. If God can do that over the period of one month, training camp, I cant even imagine what He is going to do over the two weeks we have in North Carolina! Tomorrow, the 25th of September, the girls from my squad will be traveling to Black Mountain, North Carolina to do some ministry!! I’m so excited to see what we will be doing to help the people and the environment. Because of our travels tomorrow, our Sabbath/rest day has been moved to today. As of now, I am enjoying my Sabbath by watercolor painting some flowers and drinking a pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks in the shade on a sunny morning. Maybe later I will learn a song or two on the ukelele. Today is a great day to hang out with God. With that, I hope that all of you can take tomorrow, or today, to just rest and be at peace from this busy, stressful world we live in. Make your favorite drink, sit outside, and just appreciate everything God has given you. Make a habit of it, because the best thing that you can do in this life is build your relationship with Him.

  2. Did not your father eat and drink, and do justice and righteousness? Then it was well with him. He pled the cause of the afflicted and needy, then it was well. Is not that what it means to know Me? declares the Lord (Jer. 22:15-16).

  3. The joy of the Lord is your strength!! I love you honey, and love hearing about all you are learning and doing!
